The optical plethysmography method is used to measure the pulse. The light source is an LED flash. Light is reflected from the finger pads, and the movement of the arteries is captured by the camera lens. StressCam records the video, distinguishes the pulse signal, removes noise and smoothing.
The measurement accuracy is comparable to the precision of a conventional optical heart rate monitor. If during the measurement the finger is stationary relative to the camera and the smartphone flash it can reach a precision of ± 1 beats per minute.
The calculation of stress is based on HRV technology. StressCam measures stress based on the evaluation of the predominantly sympathetic component of the autonomic nervous system. Our algorithms are based on geometrical methods. We have developed an algorithm for calculating stress level with a fixed scale from 1 to 10.

Try to keep this parameter between "good" and "excellent." Breathe deeply and only from the belly (diaphragm). Proper training sessions reduce your heart rate, stress and age.
You should train every day in familiar surroundings: at home, in the office or out and about. You don’t need privacy, learn how to train in the presence of the background noise of the street or office.

The transition from shallow breathing in the diaphragm may be accompanied by an increase in pressure, stress, a sense of lack of air when breathing. During the first training sessions do not try to immediately begin to breathe deeply at a slow pace. First choose for yourself a comfortable level by setting a rate of 8 to 10 breaths per minute. StressCam needs to accumulate 120 validated pulse values, which is the measurement, and you can obtain the level of your stress. If during the measurement you move your finger, the program will lose some of the value of the pulse and the measuring time may increase. The program will prompt you if it detects an error.
After each measurement, in the case of high stress or high biological age, StressCam suggests that you conduct biofeedback training. Our experiments have shown that when you see your current level of stress, you can take conscious actions to reduce it.
